Finally For Something About Drama

Well, what might I be discussing in this post about drama? Yep. You guessed it. Star Wars! This evening, Derek and I finished watching all six movies, something that we've been wanting to do since the beginning of our relationship. You see, here's a little fact that you might not know about Derek and I - we're complete nerds. As in, grew-up-watching-Star-Wars-and-playing-with-Star-Wars-action-figures kind of nerds. In fact, I had no idea how much of a nerd Derek was until we started watching the movies together and he was able to reveal all his glorious nerddom.

Yes. We would fit in in this photograph.
And unfortunately, we wouldn't know which side to be on...

But back to how this has to do with drama. See, Derek and I have this wonderful (but annoying to everyone else) habit of discussing the movies/TV shows/everything that we watch. Its our way of making movies so much more than just a movie. As Derek was discussing which Jedi knight was from what planet, and who did this in what book, and what each ship contained on the inside, I was observing things like, the social commentary that Star Wars contained. The insane similarities between the Empire and the Nazis (so weird, by the way). The interesting juxtaposition of the sterile, clean Empire with the earthy, real Rebels. And of course, when it came to Episode II, I couldn't help but express my great frustration at Hayden Christensen's terrible, terrible acting. *facepalm. Oh, and don't even get me started on Jar Jar Binks. I mean, seriously. The first (and hopefully only) thing that he did as a part of the Naboo senate was to elect a Sith lord as dictator - essentially.

After seeing this exact expression for more than half the movie, with the other half being him expressing boyish frustrations about, what, exactly?
I almost want to give up acting...

But thankfully, Hayden changes drastically from the second to the third movie, and shows that he actually has some skills. And Jar Jar's character very quickly loses lines - until he has a grand total of none in the third movie.

But, as my dear friend Kenton mentioned to me today, sometimes you just have to enjoy some movies for the sake of nostalgia, instead of examining the crap out of the acting. And I guess that's why the original three movies never had me cringing at the acting. I mean, seriously, with Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hammel, and tons of lightsaber battles, garbage compactors, and the Millennium Falcon, who can complain?

Question: How do you Store Your Toilet Paper?

Haha. Yes. That's the title of the post. And it's mostly inspired from the switch my roommates and I made in storing our toilet paper. We changed it up ages ago, but I never got around to posting about it. Remember the month of silence? Yeah... I know lots of people store it under the sink (yes?) or in a bathroom cupboard, but we were storing it on the floor next to the garbage can... Very exciting.

It was fine and all, but rather blah. Plus the floor dirt got on the paper - which is just gross. So then, I was at 10,000 Villages, and I saw this basket. Naturally woven, and fair trade, I was in love at once. So, home it came, and I found...

...that it fit three rolls of paper perfectly! And not only that, I think it's a bit stylish... Or at least nicer than the blah pile beside the garbage can. It keeps our small floor space a little bit clearer, keeps the paper itself cleaner, and makes me way happier.

So much nicer than before! And believe me, there have been a couple other bathroom projects that I really should share... The place is looking spiffier and spiffier - and for pretty cheap too.

Wedding Sneak Peak: Bridesmaid Dresses

Well. Blogging has clearly been successful for the past month! Wow, that's embarrassing... but, moving on.
Last night, we found the last one. Finally! After months and months of searching, we found Lana's maid of honour dress. Now, you might ask, why was it so difficult? I mean, really, how hard would it be to find a floral dress in just the right green that doesn't look like a couch? Yeah. That's what I thought.

For those of you who don't know me, I'll let you in on a little secret. I started thinking about my wedding before Derek and I were engaged. Heck, I started thinking about it before I dated Derek, before I knew Derek! Yes. I'm a girl. But that being said, I had ideas about how I wanted the wedding to be before Derek proposed.

So, of course, before he proposed, I had ideas of how I wanted my bridesmaid dresses to look. I wanted each of them to be wearing a different dress (because I'm all about freedom and individuality and all that stuff) and I wanted them to be floral. I got my inspiration from pictures like these.

I mean, seriously! Don't they look awesome? How hard could it be. Of course, what ended up happening was me almost ripping my hair out in frustration and Lana and I sending email after email after email filled with links to dresses that might possibly be "the one". Seriously. It was harder than finding MY dress. Rachel found a dress very early on, and we were always under the impression that Vickie's mom would make her a solid brown dress, so it was only Lana's dress.

Yup. That was me.

Anyway. So FINALLY, we found a dress. It was perfect. It was gorgeous. It would look good with Rachel's dress. It was expensive, yah, but whatever. We'd deal with that. So a day or two later, Lana went to order it - and guess what? It was sold out. And discontinued. It was like the whole world was against me and this wedding, I swear. Last night, however, Lana and Vickie and I were discussing dresses, and I decided to open up the link. Guess my surprise when it was in stock! With one dress in size 6 and one in size 16. So, we ordered the size 6, and we're really crossing our fingers that the sizer is a little bit off. Really hoping it fits Lana good - because according to the sizer, she should move one up. EEP.
